There are two main types of Bathtub Mixer Faucet.  One type is designed to divert water between the bath faucet and the shower, while the other is only used to fill the bathtub.  Both types have different features and advantages, but both have similar functions.  They are available in both exposed and built-in varieties, and can be manually operated or thermostatic.  The difference between them lies in the design, but the basic function is the same.  The main difference is the temperature of the water, and a thermostat is an added safety feature. There are also models that are wall-mounted.  These are the most expensive models, but they have many advantages over exposed versions.  For example, they are more comfortable to use, and they are made from solid brass.  They also resist rust.  One important feature of a floor-mounted faucet is the fact that it is compatible with both hot and cold water lines.  Another feature is that it features ergonomic controls.  Another good thing about exposed variants is that they are easier to install, as they can be installed with a twist of a wrist. A wall-mounted Bathtub Mixer Faucet is a good choice for a bathroom that has tricky access under the floor.  It can be installed right next to the bathtub without having to drill holes through the bathtub itself.  In addition, it doesn't require a hole in the floor.  This type is ideal for bathrooms that don't have a lot of space beneath the floor.  You can also choose a faucet that offers a swirling effect.

Whether you're redecorating your master bathroom or adding a new feature, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a wall mount bathtub faucet.   Here are some design tips to help you find the perfect one for your bath.   This style includes an extra-long spout for a sleek look.   Another attractive feature is the electrophoresis matte black finish, which won't show watermarks or fingerprints.   It's easy to clean as well.   Three-hole installation includes both hot and cold faucets with ergonomic cross-handle design.   A high-flow rate makes for a comfortable bath and a luxurious experience.  Before you install a new wall-mounted bathtub faucet, you should first make sure your plumber installed a cover panel on the wall.   This will hide any unsightly pipe hardware and provide easy access to the faucet.   Make sure your new faucet fits tightly against the wall, and don't forget to make sure the base is level with the bottom of the bathtub.   After you install the faucet, you can cover the base with caulk.  Another design tip to consider when choosing a wall-mounted bathtub faucet is the material.   Most faucets are made from zinc, which is not as durable as other metals.   If the walls are tiled, you might have to replace the tiles around the bathtub, which means you'll have to purchase a matching floor.   This option is more suitable if your bathroom is small and has a tiled floor.   A faucet made from a cheap, stylish material is likely to wear out quickly.

If your bathtub faucet has stopped working, you can quickly replace it with replacement parts.  Most bathtub faucet parts are generic, and have been discontinued by the original manufacturer.  Manufacturer names are used only as references and are not the actual trademarks of the companies that produce them.  You can use an online search navigator to find replacement parts by manufacturer name, or OEM part number.  These are inexpensive and easy to replace.  If you don't have these parts, a plumber can help you find the right replacement part.

To get to the parts of the faucet, you'll first need to unscrew the handles.  For stubborn handles, you can use a special handle puller.  To use it, align the handle post against the head of the screw.  Then, press the arms together behind the handle, and then turn it clockwise until the handle pops out.  Next, unscrew the handle screw or remove the escutcheon plate.  You can also use a special bath socket wrench, which looks like a spark plug wrench. Once you have removed the stem, remove the old faucet parts.  Depending on the type of bathtub faucet, replacing the stem will likely involve replacing the packing nut.  Be sure to use plumber's grease when replacing the packing nut.  Then, you can install the replacement stem and washers.  If you're working on a two-handled faucet, replace the washers.  Once the faucet is installed, unscrew the packing nut and replace with the new one.
